Episode One - The Arrival

Episode One - The Arrival.

Day one done. My commute to Jackson started at 7:30am as I left my home in northeast Colorado. I was set in for a long 10 hour drive that would take me through some of the most "scenic" places in Wyoming, like Rock Springs. Upon entering Wyoming I was greeted by it's trademark trailer tipping wind. With 50+ mph wind gusts near Laramie, I found the road littered with the carnage of light trailer travel. Semis, RV campers, and stray trailers accented the highway across the barren landscape. Needless to say, I was glad I fit everything I needed into my car so I didn't need to bring a trailer!
Once out of the wind it was smooth sailing all the way up to Jackson, with only a couple stops to move around and return blood flow to my extremities. Near Jackson I was welcomed by a sunset that highlighted the Teton range as they exposed their peaks above a low cloud layer. The most surprising view came about 10 miles or so outside of town. Coming around a bend, before the road dipped into a valley, the sun was setting over the mountains to the west of me. The valley was inhabited by a herd of horses that were shrouded by a thick layer of fog that had made it's way across the pasture floor. As I drove into the fog, the sunset illuminated the top of the fog layer turning the lake of blue haze into a brilliant lake of fire. It was pretty spectacular.
I continued weaving through the feet of the Teton's until I finally reached my destination just after dark. Once in town I quickly made my way to my new home for the next several months and unloaded all my gear. With my car's load significantly lightened I decided to familiarize myself with my surroundings.....and also dinner. Downtown Jackson was a bustling center with tourists and skiers fresh off the gondola, all searching for a good place to get some grub. Most of which found their way to the legendary Cowboy Bar. After my journey downtown I retired to my room to rest up after a long day, but more importantly for my first day working for my dream company, Teton Gravity Research.
The following morning I made my way through low cloud cover to Wilson Wyoming for my first day at TGR as their graphic design intern. Finding the building was easy enough since it is located in a small town that reminds me a lot of Paoli Colorado. I was quickly given a full tour of the TGR headquarters, meeting all of the other TGR crew members; including the founders, Steve and Todd, which I do admit was pretty cool. As soon as the tour was concluded though I was put right to work, designing web graphics to advertise several of TGR's films. I have a feeling that I will keep pretty busy and I have no problem with that, since I am "living the dream" working for Teton Gravity Research.

Below is my first episode of Chasing Gravity! Enjoy!
